Buckeye Machine is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer.  This is a full time position with benefits including health insurance and 401k.  As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work on a wide variety of projects. It will be your responsibility to obtain customer specifications and requirements and to determine the best configuration and material choices to meet those requirements.   You must have project engineering expertise and the organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of internal stakeholders and external clients.

Responsibilities & Duties Include:

  • Design custom machines, equipment, tooling and fixtures
  • Follow projects from concept to completion, through the manufacturing and assembly cycles to certification testing
  • Investigate component or system failures, finding root causes and providing solutions
  • Carry out cost reduction projects examining manufacturing process, material changes, component number reduction or design simplification
  • Meeting with customers to determine project specifications
  • Gather data
  • Make review presentations, as well as provide record books and related documentation
  • Ensure drawings adhere to customers’ standards
  • Material selection
  • Develop layouts

Requirements & Desired Skills Include:

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience on related design projects (conception to completion)
  • Proficient with AutoCAD/Inventor
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Machine/equipment design experience
